Trials Experiecne sponsored rider Blake Fox has put together a great event report from the recently held Aussie Titles and NZ Titles.
In October this year I went to the “Vine Inn Barossa 2011 Australian Moto Trials Championships” held at Eden Valley South Australia. My parents and I arrived on Thursday evening to Eden Valley and I got to look at my brand new “2011 Gas Gas TXT Pro Racing 125cc” trials bike for the first time. It was a long night having to wait to ride the bike the next day. On Friday I got to ride my bike to run it in and get some practise for 5 hours. The bike felt awesome to ride, I couldn’t wait to compete on it. I couldn’t practise on Saturday as there was no practise venue. On Sunday I competed in the Youth Class (16yr to 21yr olds) of the champs. I found the sections reasonably straight forward as I compete in Expert Grade here at home in NZ. I finished 2nd for the day as I still had to take it easy on the bike as it wasn’t completely run in.
On Monday the sections were more technical, I finished 2nd again which meant I was 2nd overall in Youth Class in the Australian Championships. The experience was great to ride in a different country on different terrain and we made contact with people who will make future trips across the Tasman much easier.
I would like to thank Paul Arnott from “The Hell Team” who is the importer of Gas Gas who we brought the bike off he also transported the bike to the venue and arranged for it to fly home.
Also Trent and Cass from “Trials Experience” who were also very helpful when Dads bag with all his motor bike gear, (he was my minder) did not turn up on the plane with us from NZ.
I have also just competed in the “2011 Beta Novogar New Zealand Moto Trials Championships’ over labour weekend, held near Hamilton. I travelled the week before the champs to train with the current NZ champion Jake Whitaker and runner up Karl Clark. I competed in the Expert Class, which is the top class in NZ at the champs. Saturday I struggled as the sections involved very large rock steps, being on a 125cc bike I found it more difficult than the other competitors who are on 250cc & 290cc bikes. Sunday I found difficult again as there were large banks, logs and slippery tree roots. Monday I rode a lot better as the sections were in slippery creeks and wet tree roots, these sections were more technical which suited me. Over all for the weekend I finished 5th in the Expert Class.
I would like to thank Brendon Wadsworth from “Marlborough Trials Centre” for his continued support, everyone else that has supported me in many ways, donations, property owners for letting me practise on their property, my parents and family for all their support.
Blake has been getting some press lately as well, check it out!
